Mission Giving Offering

As we spend this season celebrating the birth of Jesus, I invite us to broaden our field of view to look ahead to Epiphany: the celebration of the Magi bringing gifts to the Christ child. This is a powerful day in the Christian imagination, for we have an opportunity to consider what it means to bring our own gifts to the Lord. This year January 3, Epiphany Sunday, will also serve as our Mission Sunday, and we will each have a chance to “bring our own gifts” in the form of contributions to the missions work of Westminster.

Among the groups and initiatives supported by our Missions Team are:
• WESTMINSTER DEACONS – Providing
assistance to members of the Westminster Community through such initiatives as Home Communion, transportation to worship, and various fellowship events.
• S.P.A.R.K. - Westminster's Special Program of Arts and Reading for Kids, serving children of Wilson Elementary School with one-on-one tutoring.
• INFANT CRISIS SERVICES – Providing life-sustaining formula and food as well as diapers and clothing for babies and toddlers in times of crisis.
• GOODLAND ACADEMY – A ministry to children and families in distress or in need of care, supervision, counseling, and shelter in a Christian environment, and aids and assists children who are destitute, homeless, abandoned, or otherwise in need.
• THE URBAN MISSION – Providing food, emergency assistance.
• CITY RESCUE MISSION - Providing aid to the homeless here in Oklahoma City.
• MEALS ON WHEELS – Providing food to those with limited mobility.
• DINNER WITH LOVE – Providing a complete, totally-cooked holiday dinner with families in Oklahoma City.
• SUPPORT FOR INFANT LOSS GROUP – Providing support and resources for mothers who have experienced stillbirth or infant loss.
• KIDS HOPE – Providing hope to the children of Monroe Elementary through caring and life-changing relationships with Mentors, one at a time: One Child. One Hour. One Church. One School.

Each of these groups does good and important work in our community, and it is through the generosity of people such as us that these ministries carry on. If you wish to participate in this special offering, you can mail your check to the church business office designated for the "Mission Giving Offering."
