The Urban Mission was started in 1972 when the congregation of Second Presbyterian Church was dissolved. Trustees of the property decided to leave the building as a type of neighborhood outreach center. In 2000, The Urban Mission moved to our current location at 3737 N. Portland. This move gave the organization the space to help many more people. The Urban Mission has come from serving a few families each month to assisting 20,000 people each year in the Oklahoma City metro area. The Urban Mission operates on a budget of $600,000 a year. These funds are mainly secured from private individual and church donations. The Urban Mission also has secured small grants from foundations in the past. Volunteers are essential to our operation. The community comes together through The Urban Mission to help one another.

Infant Crisis Services believes every baby and toddler deserves life’s basic necessities.
With the help of the community, Infant Crisis Services supplies life-sustaining formula and food as well as diapers and clothing for babies and toddlers in times of crisis.
It is hard to imagine that in today's society there are babies and toddlers who go to bed hungry, yet it happens every day right here in Oklahoma. Our state has the 8th highest incidence of childhood poverty in the U.S. Infant Crisis Services serves more than 1,000 babies and toddlers in central Oklahoma each month.
Infant Crisis Services is bridging the gap in current services. Government programs like WIC and DHS often require waiting periods of up to several weeks during a critical time in a baby’s development and don’t provide diapers or certain medically prescribed formulas.
