The Ties That Bind
Stewardship Campaign Begins Oct 23
stew•ard•ship (stoo-erd-ship): the responsible overseeing and protection of something considered worth caring for and preserving.
Our first inclination is to think of stewardship as our way to care for Westminster. In reality, stewardship is a two way street. For more than 60 years, Westminster Presbyterian Church has been caring for us through baptisms, weddings, funerals, counseling, Bible studies, Circles, Sunday School, picnics, music ministry and small group study. For more than 60 years, Westminster has been caring for others through Urban Mission, Goodland Academy, Saturday School and youth mission trips to name only a few.
Our stewardship, our caring for, our protection and preservation of Westminster comes back to us in the caring for, protection and preservation of our families, our friends and our spiritual well-being. Our gifts to Westminster are an expression of our thanks for God’s grace which we receive unconditionally; no thanks required.
Westminster is a community of believers. We are believers who accept Christ, who raise their families in that belief and who develop life-long relationships with other believers. Stewardship is the tie that binds us as individuals to this community of believers. It is also a tie to the greater community and more importantly, a spiritual tie to the Word of God.
Please prayerfully consider how Westminster has cared for you and yours in the past and use this opportunity to protect and preserve the congregation which made that care possible so that you and others can receive that care in the future. In so doing, you will not only enrich your life and the lives of those around you, but you will honor God through helping deliver the message of his Son, Jesus Christ.
We leave you with these words from 1 Corinthians 4:1-2. A steward is one who, on the one hand, stands in a living relationship to all that his lord has and, on the other hand, has an equally close relationship to all those who look to his Lord for the supply of their needs. So that the steward is a very responsible person.
Responsibly In Christ,
